So, today while I was in a meeting, I was looking outside the window while it was raining and thought that this would be a perfect time to put up a tarp to catch rain water so that we would have something to drink.

I think I thought of this because I remembered a trip to alaska where we did this.

Well, it seems that it has been almost 1 year to the day that I have posted on this blog. I am probably the worst blogger in the world, other then the people that don't have blogs. But for them it is kinda hard to be the worst blogger if you don't blog.

Well, today is April 1st. I have been on day shift for my 3rd week so far. Things are going better now that I am actually sleeping during the night. I seem to not be so lethargic during the day, and actually this weekend (Tuesday) I signed up for a class on basic backpacking through REI.

It is odd, I had always ment to take these free classes, but I always found some reason not to do it. But now that I am actually sleeping normal, I find that I can just get up and go.

Also, for some odd reason my laptop's graphic card decided to go to grey, probably because of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Looking into building a gaming computer, that is once I get a loaner chip from my work (an i5 chip).

well, maybe I will post on here more, maybe not.

So not a lot going on, been kinda boring, just working and not doing much.

Good news is that I am working on getting more out of work, should be applying to a day job soon, hopefully will get it.

Also, if I don't another in my area has also applied to the same job, and if he gets it, i will work with the engineers to get his job.

So as you know or maybe you don't, probably don't since I haven't posted much lately.

I have been looking at the AR-15 (M-16 civilian model) for a while, been thinking of getting one, but I just found something knew.

FN Scar 17S

its a assualt style rifle made for the civilian, it shoots a .308 Win (similiar to the 7.62mm x 51 nato round), which from what I can tell is designed to go for about 150lb+ plus animals

Granted it is a assualt rifle, I like the look, don't really know if it would be a good hunting rifle, but I have been reading that the AR-15 has been used to hunt with, (recently manufactores have made some hunting variants), so with that in mind I look at this, like the design, and think it would be fun to own.

Downside, is from what I have found on the internet is that the rifle starts at $2600, so that is a nice chunk of change for a rifle, even one that looks like this.

but then again, this would be a decent rifle to hunt zombies with (I bet they is waiting for me to get ready before they show up, I wonder if I pospone my readyness if they will ever show up?)

Glomangioma.

"A painful tumor composed of specialized pericytes that are usually arranged in single encapsulated

Basically, it is a cell mass, of blood veins and nerve endings that are quite painful, and from what I have found on the internet, they tend to appear in people from 20-40. This particular one was on my left forearm, about half way between my elbow and wrist. Got it removed and have a couple of stitches that will be removed in a next friday. I really should have had it taken out sooner (been bothering me for 3+ years now). but at least in this case, I finally did, and it was benign.

Oh, I am also slowly looking into starting to eat raw food, ie fruits and vegetables. Now before you get the wrong idea, no I am not going vegen. It's just that I am seeing this improve my moms over all health, and I know I need to loose some weight, and thought I would give this a try. It can't hurt eatting more fruits and vegetables anyways, I know I eat too much junk food as is.

Ok, that is all that is new with me so far. I really should get back to trying to continue writing my zombie guild, but hell, I am now thinking, that what ever I write in that guild well help keep people save from the mindless politicians and there undead followers.

So I haven't really said much lately. Well the truth is I haven't done much in the past couple of months to warrant a update. In July I went to the beach for a week, really fun, spent time with my family.

In august, I decided to turn 29, but I don't think I will be doing that again. But in all seriousness, or some kind of seriousness, my birthday was good, It was broken into a 3 parts. 1st part was Sushi dinner with my Dad, his girlfriend, My brother, sister-in-law and Niece. God my niece was so adorable when she was eating sushi, she just stuffed her mouth full of it, btw she's about 15-16 months old. (Don't hate me, if I got if wrong, I know she is older then 1, but less then 2).

The 2nd part was a dinner part at my brothers house, with my friends, it was a Russian themed meal, pretty much everything was pickled, and I got wasted on vodka, between 5 people, we killed 1 1/2 bottles of Vodka, and 1/2 bottle of Plum Brandy, Fun, but I won't be doing that again soon, nasty headache the next day.

The 3rd part was with my mom, brother and sister-in-law, and they took me to see Phantom of the Opera, I had just got off work, so I was a little tired, almost fell asleep during the first part, during some of the slower scenes, but I managed to stay awake through the whole opera. I was excellent, plus I managed to be looking through binoculars when they did a flash for the phantom to escape, and I was looking right at the flash, needless to say, got a good laugh out of my brother, when I curse a little...

So only new thing for me in work, is that I am looking at going from night shift to day shift, I am hoping at the turn of the year, been doing this for almost 3 years now, and it does get a little tiring.

That about it so far.

So I had a thought for a halloween costume, now you might be thinking, why halloween costume in July. well each year I wanted to do something cool, but end up waiting until the last minute, and this costume would require me to actually spend some time and make some items.

So a little more to add.

While there I was able to get a photo with Herman Li of Dragonforce. I did feel a little bad interrupting him and the lady he was talking too, but I guess that is the price to pay for fame.

A little shaming, this dude who was wearing shorts, was wearing this blanket around his waist, you might think not much of a issue, but later into Disturbed, he was rocking out, and it was quite funny.

Rockstar Mayhem Fest in Auburn, Wa

So I know I haven't posted lately on here, guess I just haven't had much to say......gasp

but I now have a lot to say. So Wed July 9th, I went up to Auburn, WA to the Rockstar Mayhem Festival. All I can say is that it rocked, Good music, good sights, and hot.

On the ride up saw a pinkish car, kinda funny, since the driver was wearing a bandana, we joked in the car about them heading up to the festival also, we lost sight of them before Olympia, and later we stopped at a subway for some food.

When we got to the concert, the line was pretty long, but luckly it was moving pretty fast, only in the line about 30-45 minutes, plus got a free rockstar energy drink while in line, so not too bad.

Once in, we kinda wondered around at first, I decided to pick up 2 shirts, and a cap, all of which were from the bad Disturbed. We then headed over to the Hot Topic and Jager stages to listen to the smaller bands. While doing that we also managed to see some freestyle motocross guys do some tricks.

So after having fun watching small bands, motocross, and women. Managed to see Mastodon walk by as they headed to sign autographs.

So, at 5:45 pm the concert started, and first up was Mastodon, then Dragonforce, both of which played for about 45 minutes, Disturbed and Slipknot played for 1 hour each. Mastodon, Dragonforce, and Disturbed all started on time, Slipknot was late by 5 minutes. but note, I didn't stay for slipknot since I only went here to see Disturbed.

So, I guess you can see that it was pretty fun, and I can say that I really enjoyed myself, and really should do this more often....money and time permitting.

Returning to school

So I am here at working, wondering why I don't really like work. When it dawns on me, that I don't don't like work, I just don't like where I am working within the company that I work for.

So with that revelation taken care of, I decided to talk to my OM and find out how I can get work to pay for my continued school. turns out it is pretty easy, so now, all I have to do is go to the College, in this case OIT, and find out what I need to do, to get a B.S. in engineering.

I figure that once I have a B.S. in engineering, I can start to BS to people about engineering. Plus it might help me get some pay raises and such...who knows.

So as one of my 1st post went over was zombie survivial, in this update we will be looking at what type of weapons you will want.

Melee weapons:

Club - Baseball bat, Cricket Bat, Crowbar, Expandable baton, or a normal police baton.

Firearms:

Pistols - this is personal preferance, but you either have a revolver, or semi-auto pistols

Shotguns - you have a selection to choose from, Double Barrel, tactical pump action, hunting pump action, semi-auto shotguns.

Rifles - You have your hunting rifles, and you have your semi-auto rifles. This is really up to you on what you have, or can get a hold of.

Ammunition:

Pistols - you will most likely be looking at 9mm, 40s&w, 44cal. pretty much get/ or find what ever you can that will fit the pistol you get.

Shotgun - normally you will want 12 or 10 gauge buckshot, or 12/10 gauge slug. although there are some specialty rounds out there, like : Flechette, Dragon's Breath, SCMITR

Rifle - This is similiar to that of the pistol, 5.56mm, .223 Rem, or what ever will fit what you have.

Just a note that in case of a zombie attack, you will be wanting to shoot the head, so realistically a shotgun will be a better choice for those not use to firearms, pistols should be a last resort weapon, just because of the chances to miss is higher for those untrained. a rifle is better for range, and would be best with a scope, but the scope needs to be sighted in with the rifle to actually be good at hitting something. your melee weapons should be your true last measure, just because of the closeness that you have to be to the zombie, and that it is still a unknown on whether zombies will be moving slow or able to move fast.

So I made the post about what has been up with me lately, and I totally forgot about the concert that I went to recently.

Back story - get a call from my brother asking if I wanted to go to a concert on Wednesday night, and as you might not know I work wednesday night. So of course I go ahead and say sure, and take half the night off to go see a some music groups that I have never heard of before. Now, how did my brother end up with a extra ticket, you might not be asking yourself, well a good friend of his was going to be going, but because of work, he couldn't and I instead got to go.

Now the concert was at Wonder Ballroom in Portland, and the groups that were playing that night was Basia Bulat as the open act, and DeVotchKa as the main act. Now I must say, my music tastes are pretty open, and both these acts were great, I will be looking forward to when they both come back to Portland. If you have seen them, then you know what I am talking about, and if you haven't, you really need to see them. Music was great, good beat, lyrics hard to understand, but what's new at concerts.

I did find out that the Basia Bulat's ukulele player, Holly Rancher, has started a blog, and it is a pretty good read. She eats things from gas station stores that normal people wouldn't even try. Although I must not be normal, because I would or have tried some of the food she has tried.

So that is pretty much the only other stuff that has happened to me, I am still trying to get to a day shift job, and always look forward to when my brother or sister-in-law, invite me out to a concert of a group I have never heard of before.

Some more updates about whats happening in my life

So, nothing really big has happened since my last post about what has happened. I am still talking to Jules, at least twice a day, frustrated that may 17th hasn't come yet, nervous about meeting Jules for the first time. So, I am pretty much a happy nervous wreck, that still manages to operate normally.

I did find out yesterday that I am once again a possible match in a Bone Marrow donor program through the DoD. I was notified yesterday, and I have agreed to get blood draw on Tuesday to find out if I am the best match. If I am, I get to travel to Washington D.C. on 2 separate dates, the first to do a physical, and the 2nd to donate bone marrow. I am both scared and honored, the scared because I know it will hurt like a SOB, and the honored because I would be saving someones life.

I will keep you updated on how this works out.

btw, my zombie shirt still hasn't shown up, I am a little sad, because I want to wear it.

So I got a email from a friend, nothing special that I need to talk about, but 1 thing, the included a link to a site that is called Woot Shirt. Now your thinking what is so special about this site, other then that if has shirts, well it has 1 shirt that is near and dear to my kind of thinking and it is this.

If you had read my 2nd post, and hopefully more post to come on surviving a zombie attack, then you will see what this shirt means to me. So I went ahead and signed up on this site and purchased this shirt. The good news is that it's 1 more shirt that I can add to my rotation of shirts that I wear in a given week, which is a good thing for me.

well thats about it, maybe I will think about adding more about how to survive a zombie attack later on.

What has been up with me

Hello all that read this, I guess I haven't posted anything recently.

Well, what have I been up to lately, you might not be asking yourself right now. Well since you didn't ask, I'm going to tell you. I had managed to quit playing WoW (world of warcraft for people that don't know) for about a whole month, in that time I started playing another one, which I quit. I oddly had a void feeling in me, when I stopped playing WoW, I couldn't explain it at the time, but I felt like something was missing. It wasn't that I missed the game, far from it, just something wasn't there. So I started to go through internet dating sites thinking that I would find someone, anyone that I had something in common with, to see if I could fill this void. Well that didn't happen, I did communicate with a few people, but no one was a match for me, or they didn't fill the void through the communications.

I went back to WoW and started talking to friends that I had made. Now it was odd, but I started to feel the void was filling back up, when I talked to 1 friend in general. We talked for the next couple of days, at hours on end, getting to know each other better and better, and realized that we had both missed our talks that we had before I left. A little back story is, that before I left, I would talk to my friends from WoW on vent. and a few I would talk to longer then others, this 1 friend that I was now catching back up with, was one of the few. Back to the present. So we are talking and getting to know each other when it dawns on us, that we missed these talks, and that we cared for each other, bear in mind I haven't met her in person yet, but between typing and talking on vent, we got to know each other very well.

Now you are wondering where I am going with this, well let me just say that I feel strongly for Jules, and that after just getting to know her even better, I have decided to get a plane ticket and visit her. Your probably thinking "are you crazy, are you insane, you shouldn't do this", well I'm going with my gut feeling on this one, and my gut is listening to my heart, and my heart is telling me, she is the one, the one that I need to see, to know without a doubt that these feelings I am feeling are true. I could go and say that they are hormone driven, probably right, but I have never felt this way before. I go to sleep thinking about her, wake up thinking about her, I talk to her at least once daily, if not more times. She is on my mind all the time. When I speak to her, it's from my heart, I can express myself to her in ways that I haven't been able to before. I could say that the other people that I have either dated, or asked out, I could talk to them, but it was never like this. With Jules, ever thing seems to have more feeling, more meaning, I am happy, I smile just thinking about her, she is truly the one I love.

So that is what I have been up to, I pretty much got shot by cupids arrow, and am thankful for it. I guess it's like that saying where you find love where you least expect it, or love is right under your nose.

Well, I will try to be a little more active in my postings in the future.

An Appeal for Redress

Just learned of this from a 2 minute segment on 60 minutes, the segment is called Dissension In the Ranks. This site An Appeal for Redress, and it is a online petition for active duty service members in the Regular, Reserve, and National Guard, that want the U.S. to pull out of the Iraq.

" The idea for this protest by active duty and reserve service members came from two enlisted men who served in the Iraq war: Marine Sgt. Liam Madden and Naval Petty Officer Jonathan Hutto. The servicemen and women who sign the "Appeal for Redress" are protected under a clause in the Military Whistleblower Protection Act.

The appeal says: As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq. Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home."

As a former Marine, I thought I would share this with you, my personal believes are that I support the troops 100%, I just don't support our government with there roll in Iraq, and the reasons for us going there orginially.

Nerd, Geek, what are there meanings......

....and are they bad terms like they use to be.

I think we can all recall the movie "Revenge of the Nerds", and how they were portrayed in the moives. Then we see people like Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs, build there business during the same time, and now look at them, some of the richest men in the country, if not the world.

Meaning of Nerd, is a term often bearing a derogatory connotation or stereotype, that refers to a person who passionately pursues intellectual activities, esoteric knowledge, or other obscure interests that are age inappropriate rather than engaging in more social or popular activities

Meaning of Geek, is person who is interested in technology, especially computing and new media. Most geeks are adept with computers, and treat the term hacker as a term of respect, but not all are hackers themselves.

So as you can tell, really neither of these 2 terms are as bad as they were in the past, not since most people are rich because they either built the newest and latest technology, or they used the said technology to make there fortunes.

Zombie Apocalypse and You; Part 1

So you just woke up and found out that I somehow created a zombie apocalypse. Well now what do you do, well if you had read this before the apocalypse, then you will at least know what tools you should have.

Tools:
1x Axe/Machete/Bat
1x Crowbar
1x Boltcutters (the best you can afford, or find if you didn't get one prior to the apocalypse)
1x length of chain
1x padlock
1x plastic sign (this is for your chain and lock, so some fool doesn't come up and cut it without yelling to you first)

The last 3 items are optional, but the 1st 3 items are necessary. The axe, machete, or baseball bat are needed to kill the zombie, you only need to choose one, which ever one you think will fit your personality more. The crowbar and bolt cutters are needed to be able to break in to stores, to gather supplies.

If you don't have firearms initially, you will want to get some fast, a home defense shotgun and a rifle with scope would be best (yes I know it will weigh a lot, but if anything have the shotgun). These will come in use when you forage for food. A word of warning though, if you are with a group of friends, and family, let the person that can shoot and hit, use the gun, bullets will become like gold in these initial days.

Part 2 will come sometime, but this will at least help you initially.
